Don’t Wrestle With a Pig!

Any passionate follower of Jesus will get criticism. If you are in ministry, speak, write books or blog you will get criticism. It is inevitable. I’ve had people criticize me, my family and my mother (whom they have never met) and the church. Even those within the church will criticize you for doing what is right. People do not want to be confronted with Biblical truth. Darkness does not want to be exposed to light. Jesus was persecuted. Why should we expect less?
Recently, I was tempted to respond to an obnoxious critic. As I was considering what to say, I thought of something a former pastor and boss said about critics.
He said,
“Don’t wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty and the pigs like it.’”
That was all I needed to remember. I relinquished the words I desired to share and moved on.
Question: Have you had a recent pig wrestling experience?
